FAQ

What's the difference between your cover and original performances?

Original performances usually have a line up of different artists at one event and are set up by venues/festivals. Booking requirements are much more relaxed in this case as set duration and payment is smaller due to many terms being seen to by the venue. The songs played are original with possibly a couple of covers in my own arrangements.  For cover performances, equipment and sound is provided by myself with specific terms below.  The songs played are covers in both original and my own arrangements with possibly a couple of originals dependant on the event.

What sort of events do you perform at?

I am willing to perform at all events provided certain terms and conditions are met.  Please tell me more about your event when enquiring.

What do you charge?

My prices are based on each individual event.  Please use the contact form and provide as much detail as possible in order to receive an accurate quote.

How far are you willing to travel?

I'm willing to travel anywhere but I do charge for travel expenses.

What's the usual set duration?

For originals it can be 15-45 minutes.  For covers, the standard is 2x45 minute sets separated by a 15-30 minute break. However I do negotiate on cover bookings to accommodate your needs.

How far in advance do you take bookings and are booked up?

I take bookings up to 3 years in advance and am usually booked up between 3-6 months in advance.  I do occasionally have a day free or can make special arrangements to make myself available so never be put off asking if your event is before 3 months time or even the next day.

Will you learn a song for my event?

I offer to learn 1 song for each event at a cost based on song complexity. Most songs are about £30.

My venue has asked about PAT certificates and insurance?

All my equipment is PAT certified and fully insured.  Documents can be sent to yourself or your venue on request.

Do you play down the aisle?

I do offer this service but it can require an additional set up of equipment and more hours of service which has additional costs. Please mention this when booking to discuss.

Do you DJ?

I do not offer this service currently. I play suitable background music in between my sets but do not offer playlists before or after my live performance.

Can I use your equipment to play music?

I do not offer this service as most venues have their own, more secure speaker system that you can plug your playlists into.

Terms And Conditions

To make an event booking, please complete the contact form after reading below and provide as much detail as possible.  Eg: location, date, set duration, access time to venue (for set up), if additional set ups are required (for events in changing rooms), running times for the event.

As the artist, JayRar requires:

  • a minimum of 60 minutes to set up and sound check.  Any additional time is welcome to work with the room and get the best possible sound for your event.

  • a minimum of 1 plug socket from the mains to perform.  For added lights, a minimum of 2 plug sockets from the mains is required.

  • a 1.6m x 1.6m space for the equipment and performance. This space must be hazard free and not blocking any fire escapes. It must also be adequately covered from possible rain if outside to avoid damage to the equipment. It is possible to squeeze into tighter spaces with different, lesser quality equipment/sound so please discuss this when booking.

  • a minimum of a 15 minute break every 2 hours.

  • free drinking water throughout the event.

  • free parking at the event.  If this isn't possible, then the client is responsible for paying any parking fees for the artist.

  • full payment to be made before setting up for the performance.

Failure to provide these requirements on the day of the event will result in the performance being cancelled, with the full cost still needing to be paid for by the client to the artist.

Before The Event

After your initial booking enquiry, you will receive a quote for your event with a reference number.  If you wish to go ahead with the booking, you will need to pay a £50 deposit by bank transfer with the reference number given to you.  No date is in the diary or pencilled in until this deposit is received.

After the event is booked, additional information can be provided at any time and any questions can be asked leading up to the event.  Running times must be provided at least a week before the event.

Payments by bank transfer must be completed at least a week before the event to allow time for it to be received. Payments by cash must be paid on the day before the artist sets up.

During The Event

Small delays are common and accepted as part of the process, however if delays go over an hour, the client will be charged at time and a half of the National Living Wage. Song choice will be made by the artist in order to best suit the atmosphere and to give the best quality performance possible.  However, if there are any songs from the set list you specifically want playing or not playing for personal reasons, please inform the artist during the booking process and best efforts will be made to accommodate this. Performance sets are spaced by a 15-30 minute break.  If you require different spacing, please inform the artist during the booking process.  On completion of the performance, the artist will commence packing down of the equipment in a timely and professional manner.

Cancellations

Both the client and artist can cancel a booking as a result of Acts of Nature (including fire, flood, earthquake, storm, hurricane or other natural disaster), war, terrorist activities, death, illness or other incapacity certified by a properly qualified medical practitioner, epidemic, accident, civil commotion, order of Government or Local Authority having jurisdiction in the matter or changes in law. In these cases, no additional fees are to be paid but evidence for such matters must be provided.  In the case of the artist being ill or injured, the artist is responsible for finding a suitable replacement for the event.  If a suitable replacement cannot be found in time or the client doesn't wish for one, then any payments previously made to the artist will be paid back in full to the client immediately.
